The vixen shows a more pronounced background brightening in a cross pattern that is again not very distracting. The vixen has 4 veins that give 4 spikes. The result on the planets were an overall very slight gentle brightening of the sky around the planet that was not very distracting with the mewlon. The mewlon had 3 spider veins that resulted in 6 spikes. Is there a lot involved in cleaning the the mirrors, it would seem from your comment the open tube design is not the dust magnet it could be perceived to be. I intend to use either the Vixen 260 or C11 edge primarily as a visual scope, and from what I can gather the Vixen is very good visually on DSO’s (galaxies & nebulas) not so hot on planets, would you have any insights in this regard?Īlso has the collination of the scope been a particular issue? I had looked at Mewlon 250 however outside my budget constrictions.Įxcellent to discover the views were quite similar through both scopes. Its great to hear from an actual owner thanks.Īnd also to a comparison between the vixen 260 and a Mewlon 250. As I am strictly visual, I kept the vixen and sold the mewlon The mewlon was better mechanically but the view was much the same between them. I also had a mewlon 250 for a number of years at the same time and was able to compare the 2 side by side. I have cleaned the mirror twice in that time and the coatings seem perfect.

I have had a vmc260l for at least 10 years.
